Base:                           Tom Boswell Tree Services Yard, Acton

Salary:                         £ 42,000 per annum (depending on exp)

Hours of work :           Monday to Friday 7.15 – 4.00pm (occasional weekend work)

Accountable to:          Team Leader, Operations Manager

Role purpose:

We are looking for a passionate and committed second climber and occasional driver to be part of a team ensuring the delivery of best-in-class tree surgery work.

The role of Lead Climber in the company is important, and you will be expected to help deliver great customer care.  The successful candidate will be highly motivated, flexible and committed to the continuous development of themselves, the team and the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake an active climber role – deliver high-quality and safe tree surgery, tree removal and stump grinding as well as other related tasks.
  • To be part of a team of tree surgeons and ground staff to complete daily tree surgery operations safely and to a high standard. You do not have to be a team leader.
  • When required – drive and coordinate a vehicle from our yard to job sites and return to the yard.
  • Complete maintenance checks on vehicles, equipment and tools
  • Undertake health and safety work programmes, as agreed with the Operations manager / Company Director and in line with industry best practice. This includes risk management for jobs of work.
  • Manage company resources in an effective manner, contributing to the financial efficiencies of the company
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development, keeping up to date with changes in best practices within Arboriculture. Ensure to maintain any industry-relevant qualifications as required by the job
  • Ensure all information relating to the company and its clients is managed confidentially and in line with relevant information governance legal requirements and ensure information and data are dealt with legally, securely, efficiently and effectively
  • Any other roles and responsibilities as required and commensurate with the role.
Person Specification
  Essential Desirable
Qualifications
  • GCSE’s in English, Maths and other subjects.

 

  • Current Driving Licence
  • Current first aid qualification
  • Relevant NPTC units – chainsaw maintenance, tree felling, climb a tree and perform aerial rescue, use a chainsaw from a rope and harness.

 

Knowledge and Skills
  • Up to date knowledge of latest industry best practice in arboriculture
  • Computer skills (e.g. email, document management etc)
  • Effective communications skills – verbal and written
  • Skills to manage conflicting priorities and manage workload
Experience
  • Minimum experience of 1 years work in the arboricultural industry
  • Operational experience
  • Experience of maintenance of tree surgery related equipment (e.g. Vehicles, chippers, saws, ladders etc)
  • 2 or more years’ experience in arboricultural industry
